YounJung Cha

YoungJung Cha, a doctoral student at the University of Iowa, gave a piano recital at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16 at the Morton College Music Department in room 110-C.

Cha performed three pieces: “Piano Sonata in C major, No. 1, Op. 1” by Johannes Brahms; “Piano Sonata in E-flat major, Hob. XVI/52, L. 62” by Joseph Haydn; and “Fantasie in B minor, Op. 28” by Alexander Scriabin.

Watching Cha perform was simply captivating. She executed every note flawlessly and displayed a whimsical and graceful style. There were several times when she looked away from the sheet music and just

Her passion for music was evident in her playing. It seemed as if she lost herself in her music, which is the most beautiful and breathtaking thing a truly skilled artist can do. It was as if no one else existed but her and the piano.
